The ECONAU project database contains microdata for individuals and firms. Compliance of the security rules is of utmost importance since a breach in security has severe consequences for the entire department. Read about the consequences here (Guidelines for Transferring Aggregated Results from Statistics Denmark's Research Services).
New users of ECONAU must carefully read and sign a contract from Statistics Denmark and complete a security tutorial provided by the ECONAU data management team. Furthermore, new users are strongly encouraged to participate in a one-day course about the ECONAU project database, the Statistics Denmark server, and security rules. The course is held once per semester. Contact the data manager for more information.
In case of a security breach, immediately contact Statistics Denmark Forskningsservice at forskningsservice@dst.dk and describe in as much detail as possible how the rules have been violated. Please cc Maria Knoth Humlum (mhumlum@econ.au.dk) and datamanager@econ.au.dk in the e-mail.
When contacting Statistics Denmark Forskningsservice, do not send any microdata when describing a possible security breach – only a written explanation of the possible breach (no screenshots, etc.).
Researchers are expected to follow the rules set up by Statistics Denmark. Failure to do so will be reported directly to Statistics Denmark, and access may be closed depending on the gravity of the offense.
On the ECONAU server, users must comply with the specific rules (memory restrictions, space restrictions, etc.) defined by the data management team. Failure to do so will result in a warning. Repeated offenses and disregard of warnings will lead to temporary or permanent closure of access.
