The Department is moving to the new University City in November - December 2025. This will bring us closer to the other departments at Aarhus BSS, and we will be connected to the departments in the University Park by the passage under Nørrebrogade.
Below you can read more about the relocation process and various practical matters.
This page will be updated regularly as new details become available.
The relocation to buildings 1810-1816 will take place in weeks 48, 49 and 50 (24 Nov. - 12 Dec. 2025).
As soon as a detailed relocation schedule for each section is available, it will be posted here. We expect to have this information in early October. Each section’s move will take place within a short timeframe of 2–3 days.
During the relocation weeks, there will be a number of offices and meeting rooms available at Fuglesangs Allé for working, meetings and student supervision. More information about this will follow in October.
We are planning a visit to the University City for all ECON employees in due time before the move. More information about the visit will follow in the beginning of October.
Packing
Moving boxes are placed in the hallways in all office buildings at Fuglesangs Allé. Labels for the boxes will be available in the beginning of October.
Given that we will have fewer square meters at our disposal in the University City, you are encouraged to carefully consider what you bring with you to your new office. If you have books that you will not bring to your new office and you think others could be interested, you are welcome to bring them to the Used books for free tables in the hall in building 2632(L).
Packing instructions will be available soon.
Containers for paper/small items etc.
Waste containers are placed in all office buildings at Fuglesangs Allé. Please don’t fill them more than two-thirds full. If a container is close to that level, reach out to Christel B. Mortensen or Thomas Stephansen, and they’ll arrange for a new one.
If you are unsure where to dispose of something, please reach out to Christel or Thomas for guidance.
Instructions for making an office arrangement plan
Making an office arrangement plan will make the relocation smoother as the moving company will then know how to place your furniture in your new office. Instructions for making an office arrangement plan will be available soon.
Christel will meet with all colleagues during September and October to discuss which furniture to bring along, and whether you need a different size desk, a new office chair, or similar items.
As a general rule, your new office will be furnished with a desk, a chair, and a new white shelving system. Depending on available space, you may also receive a small table, extra chairs, or similar items. Please note that the wooden “ladder” shelving system currently in many offices will not be moved to the new buildings.
Not all furniture currently placed in offices will be allocated to offices in the new buildings. Instead, some of these items will be placed in shared common areas for everyone to use and enjoy.
Many pieces of furniture will be upcycled during autumn/winter 2025. Christel will coordinate with you regarding the timing for collection. Some of the smaller meeting tables and chairs will also be upcycled—some in 2025 and others in 2026.
