Employment measures need to be reformed, and there must be more focus on freedom, simplification and dignity when citizens need help finding employment in the future. The Danish government has therefore appointed a group of experts to provide recommendations for a new employment model.

Professor Michael Rosholm from the Department of Economics and Business Economics at Aarhus BSS, Aarhus University, has been appointed to the five member expert group. Michael Rosholm can draw on his extensive research in the field and experience with similar tasks. His previous positions include economic advisor and head of Trygfonden's Centre for Child Research. He is currently chair of the Danish Economic Council of the Labour Movement.

"I’ve conducted research into the function of the labour market, the effects of employment policy initiatives and the impact of job centres in the past 30 years, so I have a detailed knowledge of the area, both quantitatively and qualitatively," says Michael Rosholm.

The new expert group is being headed by Claus Thustrup Kreiner, professor of economics from the University of Copenhagen. In addition to Michael Rosholm, members of the group include other economic experts, a municipal chief executive officer and head of the employment area for the City of Aarhus. The group has one year to prepare their recommendations for a new, simplified and more dignified active employment model. A model that helps citizens find work quickly and that prioritises and targets expenses corresponding to cost reductions of DKK 3 billion by 2030.
