Title: AI and Digitalization on the Evolution of Occupational Skills

We cordially invite you to a distinguished seminar by Dr. J. Andres Faiña, Professor Emeritus and holder of the J. Monnet Chair in European Industrial Economics.

In this seminar, Professor Faiña will share insights from his recent research on the shifting landscape of skills and competencies in the workforce in the transformation brought about by AI and digitalization. Leveraging the OECD's Skills 4 Jobs database and big data from online job postings, the study examines how competency profiles for various occupations evolve in response to technological advancements.

This research, grounded in the latest developments in NLP techniques, analyzes the relationships between skills and occupations. It is aimed at helping policymakers and corporate talent managers identify and predict skill shortages across different fields, enabling the creation of tailored solutions with the help of business intelligence tools. The findings are important for developing labor market strategies and enhancing talent management practices. We invite you to engage in a discussion on the research’s preliminary findings, its implications, and future directions. This seminar is at the intersection of labor economics, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics.
