Title: Setting staffing levels in a two-stage queueing system with bulk arrivals at the start of every workday
Abstract: The presentation will start reviewing the exam project of January 2023 for the master level course Business Process Modelling and Simulation. The project concerned a case of setting staffing levels for a service system (organized as a two-stage process) with bulk arrivals at the start of every workday. The level of realism of this project will be addressed as well as whether a mathematical solution technique, using queueing theory, can be developed (or has already been developed?) to solve such a case. Ultimately the presentation will ask the audience whether engaging in research projects for analyzing any possible variant of this case might be of interest to pursue for the CORAL group.
