Bastien Michel and Marianne Simonsen have received DKK 5 million from TrygFonden for their project to evaluate a therapy-based intervention specifically designed to help individuals who have grown up in a family with an alcohol problem, while relying on a randomized wait list control design.

The intervention takes the form of individual counselling and therapy, group therapy, and psychoeducational training. Its objective is to improve beneficiaries’ psychological health but, in doing so, it also hopes to reduce the likelihood of behavioral problems and improve their health status, educational achievement, and connection to the labor market.
