Towards the end of June this year, CREATES will host the 2015 SoFIE conference, which will be the biggest SoFiE conference thus far. The conference lasts four days, and among the participants are international PhD students as well as leading researchers in financial econometrics, including a Nobel Prize winner.

“Naturally, we are very pleased that this year’s SoFIE conference will be held here in Aarhus. We have prepared a very broad programme, and compared with previous SoFIE conferences, this year we have increased the number of speakers, and we have organised the first ever pre-conference aimed at young researchers and PhD students. Junior researchers is a highly prioritised focus area at CREATES, and we are happy that we have been able to create a new platform and give them the opportunity to present their research to a broader audience,” explains Niels Haldrup, who is professor at the Department of Economics and Business Economics at Aarhus BSS and centre director of CREATES.

CREATES was the obvious choice

CREATES is institutional member of the SoFIE network and plays a large role in this context, for example in SoFIE’s Council Board. For that reason, Niels Haldrup was not entirely surprised that CREATES was chosen to host this year’s conference.

“CREATES has been part of the SoFiE network from the outset, and both Aarhus University and CREATES are at the very top in international rankings when it comes to research on time series and financial econometrics. So, naturally we were hoping that one day we would get the chance to host this prestigious event,” says Niels Haldrup.

The SoFiE conference takes place from 24 to 26 June, and the pre-conference is held on 23 June. CREATES expects the conference to be a great success and that it will contribute to getting more great PhD students to look towards CREATES in the future.
